LAGNA (Lesbian & Gay News Archive) & Hall Carpenter Archive
A talk and presentation about the forthcoming LAGNA/HCA exhibition ( running in July 07), to commemorate the passing of the Sexual Offences Act in 1967, illustrated by extracts from the press from the period incorporating material from the '60s relating to gays and lesbians.

The Green Carnation
A Talk by Jeff Fendall. The Green Carnation - Before and After Oscar Wilde. The talk will explore the context in which Oscar Wilde lived as far as homosexuality, lesbianism, bi-sexuality and cross-dressing are concerned, and his legacy in the decades following. More info here (Word doc)

An evening with Author Stella Duffy
Stella Duffy has written ten novels, five of them are literary novels including State of Happiness which was longlisted  for the Orange prize in 2004. Her other five books are the Saz Martin crime series. Stella’s latest novel The room of lost things will be published by Virago in 2008. Stella has also written over thirty short stories and eight plays. Join Stella for an evening talking about and reading from her works, there will be a chance to ask questions and Stella will be signing copies of her book at the end of the evening.

Queerupnorth: LGBT Performance and Art in the North West
A talk by John Deeney. Queerupnorth International Festival has put Manchester firmly on the map as the UK’s premier city of gay and lesbian culture. The festival has become a by-word for quality, with ground breaking and award-winning commissions and tours. John Deeney is a Senior Lecturer in Drama at
Manchester Metropolitan University.

An Evening with Sarah Waters
Booker and Orange Prize nominee Sarah Waters will be discussing her work and her latest paperback "The Night Watch" before signing copies of her books. Entry is with a ticket only, £3, with the ticket price redeemed against purchase of The Night Watch on the evening.

Preston LGBT Film Festival Day 1
Two documentaries: "Gateway To Heaven", produced by Age Concern England, based on the play by Clare Summerskill recounting the memories of older LGBT people; followed by "In Good Conscience", a film about the delightful American rebel nun Sister Jeannine Gramick, and her refusal to accept the Vatican's attempts to silence her ministry to lesbian and gay Catholics
