Queer History: Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender Study day at the Museum of London
London's queer history has been obscured from the public for too long. For a second year the Museum of London marks LGBT History Month with a study day providing insights into histories which have either been overlooked or deliberately concealed. There will also be opportunities for your voice to be heard as we debate and discuss the issues and options open today for those who wish to set the record right. Speakers and contributors will include: Dr Matt Cook from Birkbeck; Dr Bob Mills from King's College; writer Diana Souhami; activist Peter Tatchell; Linda Pointing from Brighton Ourstory; Dr Darryl McIntyre, Museum of London and Sue Sanders from Schools Out. Queer Alternative Youth
An afternoon bringing LGBT Youth (ages 13-25) together at London's oldest gay venue, the Royal Vauxhall Tavern, for non-alcoholic drinks, alternative music supplied by DJ Sandra D (Miss-Shapes). She will be playing, as well as giving anyone the chance to bring their own music and take to the decks.
The event's aims is to bring the youth of the area together in a safe and friendly space (there is added security to check ID for people over 25 - Youth Worker ID must be shown) to meet other LGBT Youth to celebrate their sexual orientation.
