The images reflect some of the joys, struggles and triumphs that the LGBT community has faced in recent years. More recently, Pride has become more popular, diverse and more inclusive, with all groups celebrating and being celebrated.

Alongside the exhibition, people are being encouraged to help create a LGBT history community space, by bringing along there own images (small photographs from Pride events, or Civil Partnership), poems, stories, self portraits etc to be placed on a wall, in this way people will be able to add there own stories and history to contribute to the LGBT history month.

At the end of the exhibition, the contributions will be complied and edited to create a local LGBT resource.

Where There Was Silence
Southwark historian Stephen Bourne will introduce his video short Where There Was Silence (1988) in which five gay men, all portrayed by a single actor, recall the film Victim and how it affected their lives. Ending with reference to Clause 28 of the Local Government Bill, the video also questions the future of gay (and by implication lesbian) representation on film and video. Followed by question and answer session. Time 7 pm – 9 pm. Free refreshments. This event is sponsored by the Metropolitan Police Southwark.
