Kairos in Soho’s Historical Walking Tours of Lesbian & Gay Soho, London

A historical stroll through streets that have witnessed the secrets, trials, and triumphs of gay life for nearly a thousand years. Enjoy the vibrancy of Soho's diverse cultural history and see the richness that it offers today. More details below.

Discussion Event – Violence against lesbians – homophobic or gender-based hate crime, London

This talk will be facilitated by Marianna Tortell. The discussion will look at whether violence against lesbians can be understood and responded to within a framework of violence against women. Are they two separate issues or different forms of male violence?

Anne Lister and Other Famous LGBT people, Halifax

Gay and Lesbian Youth in Calderdale (GALYIC) have invited other LGBT youth groups in West Yorkshire to come together to have a look round Shibden Hall in Halifax, where Anne Lister lived –Helena Whitbread who wrote I Know My Own Heart and No Priest But Love from The Diaries of Anne Lister, will meet the groups and talk about Anne Lister.

The groups will then be transported by minibus to the youth centre to watch a half-hour video called A Skirt Through History which was made by the BBC a few years ago about Anne Lister.

Each youth group will then give a five minute presentation on their favourite female and male LGBT historical person; then we will conclude by sharing some food.

Truth, Lies and Videotape, London

Ray Reynolds opens up his voluminous video vaults revealing gay pride and entertainment since the 1960’s; much of it collected as a DJ with Tricky Dicky. An evening of laughter, including performers and music of yesteryear

An Afternoon with Julie McNamara, London

Julie McNamara, playwright, actor and singer/songwriter, takes a break from her most recent play Pig Tales to entertain and remember at the Hemingford Arms. A major lesbian venue of years gone by, a reunion and much more, for lesbian/gay/bi/trans/queer people of all ages. Your host is Ingo

Studio Talk with Janni Kowalski, Manchester

Janni Kowalski will give a short reading from his book and take questions on his experiences as a gay man, adopted by a Jewish family, in World War II. Janni survived in the Jewish ghetto and, later, the horrors of Auschwitz-Birkenau and Bergen-Belsen camps. Janni now finds himself sharing his life experiences with new generations.
