Entertainment

Alan Ball 1957 -

Alan Ball is probably best known as the creator of the acclaimed television series Six Feet Under. He produced the series, as well as writing and directing some episodes. Six Feet Under was a thought-provoking story based on the lives of the Fisher family, in particular the two sons, Nate and David. Much of the five seasons of the programme focussed on David’s emotional life – from closeted gay to his relationship with policeman Keith, with whom he adopted two children.

Six Feet Under was welcomed by many gay TV viewers as it gave an uncompromising yet ultimately hopeful view of gay lives and relationships.

Alan Ball also wrote the award winning film American Beauty and stage plays including Five Women Wearing the Same Dress and Bachelor Holiday.
